Men who shot, injured Cape Town cop left gun at scene

A police officer is in hospital after being shot on Wednesday by two armed men in Bishop Lavis‚ Cape Town. Western Cape police spokesperson Captain FC Van Wyk said the 48-year-old officer was shot at about 6.50am.The suspects fled the scene‚ leaving a firearm behind.“Circumstances surrounding an attempted murder are being investigated‚” Van Wyk said. “The police officer was off duty and dressed in police uniform when he was attacked by two armed men who fled the scene without their firearm. The victim was admitted to hospital.”He could not say how seriously injured the officer was.The motive for the attack is unknown and no arrests have been made.- TMG Digital/The Times..
