'Bring us bananas and not water': ANCYL protesters tell Standard Bank official

Bring us bananas and not water. This was the response of ANC Youth League members when Standard Bank officials brought bottled water to help them with the heat as they protested outside.

This is linked to estate agent's Penny Sparrow's comments where labelled black people as monkeys. 

The league wants the bank to fire its suspended economist Chris Hart for his recent racist remarks on social networks.

Matome Chiloane, chairperson of the league in Gauteng, told The Times that they would organise a boycott of the bank and ask government not to do business with it, if Hart was not fired.
