Job advert for traffic cops on social networks is fake: government

The Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC) has warned job seekers about a fake traffic officer learnership advertisement being circulated on social networks such as WhatsApp‚ Facebook and Twitter. NB: Apply before Friday... https://t.co/HuVCdRVJSb— Pusha Thursday (@PushaThursday) January 18, 2016FraudRTMC has distanced itself from the bogus advert as it currently has no vacancies for traffic officer learnerships.“We urge all victims of such an ad to immediately report the incident to the nearest South African Police Service Station or contact the RTMC anti-fraud unit on 012 999 5200‚” the corporation said‚ as quoted by the government news agency.The advert is being investigated by the anti-corruption unit.South Africa has 13 Traffic Training Colleges that have been approved by the Minister of Transport in terms of the National Road Traffic Act (NRTA).Any person who wishes to be employed as a traffic officer must be trained for one year at an approved Traffic Training College.Prospective learners should not pay training fees to any individual to secure a space at a training college‚ as this is done by the local or provincial authorities.Applicants are advised to ensure that the colleges that they use for the Basic Traffic Officers’ Course are fully registered‚ accredited and approved in terms of the Act...
