Rev Stofile is new Fort Hare chancellor

South African ambassador to Germany Reverend Dr Makhenkesi Stofile has been appointed as a chancellor of the University of Fort Hare. The Daily Dispatch has learnt that this was announced to staff and students on Thursday afternoon.In an internal email to staff seen by the newspaper‚ the university's registrar‚ Professor Michael Somniso‚ said: " As the Registrar of The University of Fort Hare it gives me great pleasure to announce the election of the Rev. Dr. Makhenkesi Stofile as the Chancellor of this great University.“The Rev. Dr. Stofile will begin engaging in the activities of the university immediately and will be officially installed as Chancellor during the May graduation ceremonies. Please join with me in wishing him everything of the best during his five year term of office."He replaces the late Judge Thembile Skweyiya‚ who died last year.An official comment from the university is expected during the course of Friday. – TMG Digital/Daily Dispatch..
