According to a Facebook post by Carol van der Spuy on the Hout Bay Organised group's page, a friend of hers, Jen Goodwin, was driving up Suikerbossie when she saw a bucket of paraffin burning by a bus stop near the Ruyteplaats Mountain Estate around 23:30 on Friday.

“'Tried to flag some cars down, but no one was stopping for the howling banshee on the side of the road pouring her last few sips of water onto the bucket of paraffin which had melted and was firing [sic] down the road’,” her post read.

Two men stopped to help her and Goodwin reported the incident to a police officer she saw further down the road.

City of Cape Town Fire and Rescue Services spokesperson, Theo Layne, said they did not know of the incident.
