A 26-year-old man accused of raping 14 women in Mpumalanga will appear in the Mapulaneng Magistrate's Court in Bushbuckridge on Thursday.

The man, who cannot be named until he has pleaded to the charges, was arrested in Sabie on Tuesday following a tip-off from residents.

Police spokesperson Brigadier Selvy Mohlala said the man was first arrested in 2013, for a rape in Marite, between Bushbuckridge and Hazyview.

He allegedly committed six rapes after his case was provisionally withdrawn and he was released pending DNA test results.

The DNA results positively linked the man to 14 rapes. Four of them were allegedly committed in Sabie.
