Suspect in metro cop’s killing nabbed

A man has been arrested in connection with the killing of metro police officer Nicholas Diameen Robson‚ the Hawks said on Thursday. A statement described the suspect as a “37-year-old Lesotho national who is the country illegally”.Robson was shot 13 times by a group of men near his home in Kliptown‚ Soweto two weeks ago. His service pistol was stolen.“As they fled the scene the suspects robbed‚ shot and killed a woman as well shooting another man who was lucky to escape the shooting with bullet wounds‚” police said.Wednesday’s arrest - effected by a Hawks task team specialising in police killings - was made in Kanana township‚ Klerksdorp.“Investigations led to Mandela Squatter Camp in Kliptown where a firearm with one police magazine and one live round of ammunition were recovered.”The suspect will appear in the Protea Regional Court on Friday.The search for his four accomplices is still underway...
