Wits SRC President, Nompendulo Mkatshwa, and her treasurer-general are touring tertiary institutions in Canada in a bid to raise funds for #FeesMustFall movement.

Mkatshwa and Karabo Marutha touched down in the North American country Monday to raise funding for disadvantaged and needy students who have struggled to pay their tuition at Wits University.

After leading a massive revolt against the rise of registration and tuition fees which spread to other tertiary institutions around the country, the Wits SRC is looking to raise R10 million in total. So far they have received R3,5 million and are set on getting a cash boost of R2 million in Canada.

Mkatshwa and her team are being hosted by an organisation called CESAR and have been involved in strategy meetings at Ryerson University.

Mkatshwa told Destiny magazine that injustice is what makes her tick and fuels her drive to assist students.

" The fact that there are those who have and those who don’t have, the fight for equality and access for all keeps me going. Having the core tenets of the Freedom Charter actually lived and not only uttered is what keeps one going. Those who came before us keep us going, and those who will come after us also keep us going," she said.
