The parents of the 16-year old schoolgirl killed in Tokai have offered a reward for anyone who will provide information leading to the arrest and conviction of the murderer.

Franziska Blochliger‚ a pupil at Constantia Waldorf School‚ went jogging while on a family outing in Tokai forest. When she went missing‚ a search began and her body was found in the forest on Monday. She is thought to have been strangled.

In an emotional clip on Youtube‚ her parents‚ Florian and Shireen Blöchliger‚ appealed to the public for help in tracking down her killer.

Mother Shireen said they were devastated by loss of their child‚ and didn’t know how they would get over their loss.

She said she couldn’t begin to grasp how anyone would want to do what they did to Franziska.

The parents said Franziska was happy at school‚ and was set to go as an exchange student to Switzerland early in April.

Father Florian Blöchliger said he couldn’t understand how anyone could kill a child‚ and said that crime was taking over everywhere in South Africa.

Police said Franziska’s phone had been active until 9pm on Monday‚ he said.

Florian said the family was offering a reward of R50 000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the killer.

He appealed to anyone who had information to come forward‚ as the perpetrator was likely to commit more murders.
