Husband beats wife to death 'because chicken livers weren't cooked when he wanted to eat'

Willowvale police in the Eastern Cape have arrested a 69-year-old man for the alleged murder of his wife‚ aged 67.She had been beaten with a stick in the early hours of Tuesday morning‚ at about 1.25am.The couple were at their home in Komkhulu location‚ Mente Village‚ Willowvale.Colonel Priscilla Naidu described the circumstances leading up to the murder: "The suspect had earlier demanded to be given chicken livers of the chicken that was cooked by the deceased. This was during the evening of Monday 07 March 2016. He was told that the chicken livers were not yet ready to be served. He then went to bed and at about 01:25 on Tuesday 08 March 2016‚ the suspect took his stick and severely assaulted his wife on her upper body. The 67 year old wife died instantly."The husband was arrested and charged with murder. He is due to appear before the Willowvale Magistrate Court on Thursday.Their names have been withheld until the wife's family have been informed of her death...
