Mabifu Mbundwana, 69, was arrested after he allegedly beat his 67-year-old wife Nofinish Mbundwana to death with a stick in Mente village, Willowvale, on Tuesday, Captain Jackson Manatha said.

Mbundwana allegedly wanted her to serve him chicken livers she had cooked earlier. She however told him they were not ready yet. He went to bed, got up around 01:25, took his stick and allegedly assaulted her. She died on the scene.

He faces a charge of murder. The case was postponed to 11 April.
