Bloem SPCA seeks info on earless pit bull

The Bloemfontein branch of the Society for Prevention of Cruelty of Animals (SPCA) believes that an injured pit bull terrier dumped in its yard on Thursday “was not good enough in the ring” and was abused by its owner. Tell-tale signs that it was a fighting dog included‚ the SPCA’s Reinet Meyer said:- The dog's head was swollen to almost twice the size of his body‚ possibly from a dog bite or being hit by someone;- The head had lots of abrasion; and- The dog's ears had been cut off.The dog reportedly had “severe distemper” and “we could clearly see that the dog had stood for some time in the coop‚ because his toenails were overgrown”‚ the SPCA said.Anyone with information about with the dog or its owner is urged to contact the Bloemfontein on 051 447 3801.
