Karoo search unearths drugs worth R2.6m

A bakkie stopped in the Karoo early on Wednesday was found to be carrying cocaine and tik worth R2.6-million. Police said the discovery of 1kg of cocaine in a false compartment led to an intensified search.“This resulted in a further 1kg of cocaine and 5.2kg of tik being found in the bodywork of the vehicle in compartments under the canopy. The total street value of the drugs is estimated at R2.6-million‚" said Western Cape police spokesman Andre Traut.A 39-year-old Nigerian from Dunoon‚ near Milnerton in Cape Town‚ was arrested."We are pleased with the outcome of our intervention and regard the seizure and subsequent arrest of the suspect a major blow to the drug trade‚" said Traut...
