The price of diesel‚ however‚ will decrease by between one and two cents a litre.

  • Petrol price set to increase again in May‚ says AAA petrol price hike of between 17 and 18 cents a litre is likely next month‚ according to the Automobile Association (AA).

Illuminating paraffin will also decrease by 9c/l and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) by 5c/l.

The department said the strengthening of the rand against the US dollar during the review period had cushioned a 40c/l increase in the price of international petroleum products by more than 25c/l.

“The prices of petrol increased more significantly than the prices of diesel due to higher demand for petrol in USA and Europe as they move towards their summer season‚” it said.
