Police monitoring situation after violent protests flare again in Vuyani

Police say they are continuing to monitor the situation in Vuyani outside Thohoyandou in Limpopo where violent protests flared again on Sunday.The SABC reported that the protests started after a community meeting in which residents were briefed about a recent high court outcome by their leaders.The traditional leaders lost a court bid to compel the Municipal Demarcations Board to reverse its decision to merge their area with Malamulele to form a new municipality. Protesting residents set alight a truck and a grader belonging to the Public Works Department‚ the state broadcaster said.Police confirmed in a tweet that a tyre of a police trailer that was being used to carry razor wire was also set alight by the protesters.They said that no arrests had been made yet but that the situation was being closely monitored.According to reports‚ major roads in the area are still blockaded with stones and other rabble...
