Report on alleged hate speech by Zulu king delayed

It said new information obtained in the investigation into the matter compelled it to provide the complainants and the respondent an opportunity to comment on the new information.“The complainants and the respondent have until Friday 20th May 2016 to make comments or further submissions based on the new information.“Once the Commission has received their comments or the period within which they were required to submit their comment lapses‚ it will proceed to finalise the report‚ which will be released in due course‚” the commission said on Wednesday.The report was expected to have been released by April 30.The commission said it had received 31 complaints between April and June 2015 relating to statements made by King Zwelithini during a moral regeneration event in Pongola northern KwaZulu-Natal on or about the 15th March 2015.The complainants allege that the utterances made by the King amounted to hate speech against foreign nationals.Some complainants linked the King’s statements to subsequent attacks on foreign nationals...
