Eskom boasts of nine months without load-shedding during Zuma visit

President Jacob Zuma is paying a state visit to electricity power house Eskom‚ to monitor the current status of the utility. Friday's visit comes as Zuma announced during his 2016 State of the Nation Address that government will provide support to state-owned companies while also implementing the reforms that would make them more effective in delivering on their mandates.Speaking on the sidelines‚ Eskom's spokesperson Khulu Phasiwe said: "In December 2014‚ government issued a notice saying that South African Airways‚ Eskom and the Post Office will have to turn around. So the president is here to monitor how much progress has been made so far"."As Eskom‚ we will inform the president that we have now had no load shedding for the past nine months in a row and the plan is to continue along this path‚" said Phasiwe.He said the president would be sharing with the other state owned companies how to maintain consistency in order to be in a stable condition‚ both financially and operationally.Zuma will later visit SAA.- TMG Digital/TMG Local Government Team..
