The Education Department has postponed the release of the controversial report into the alleged buying and selling of teacher posts by two weeks. In a statement released on Friday‚ the department said Minister had held consultation meetings with various stakeholders on this week to discuss the “Jobs for Cash” report.The stakeholders she met are the National Teachers Union (NATU)‚ the National Professional Teachers Association (NAPTOSA)‚the South African Democratic Teachers Union (SADTU)‚the Suid-Afrikaanse Onderwys Unie (SAOU)‚ the Professional Educators Union (PEU) and all School Governing Body Associations.“Emanating from these consultation meetings with the Minister‚ stakeholders have requested more time to refine their inputs and responses to the report.“The Ministerial Task Team with the support of the Minister agreed to give stakeholders the opportunity as requested and therefore the release of the report will be postponed for two weeks to allow for these processes to be concluded‚” the department’s spokesman Elijah Mhlanga said in the statement.Mhlanga said the inputs of the stakeholders would be considered before a report is published.“The consultation with the various stakeholders this week has highlighted the importance to ensure that all processes are fair‚ just and followed to the letter.
