'Drug mule' to apply for bail

The case of a woman accused of bringing 5.7kg of cocaine into the country was postponed on Monday at the Kempton Park Magistrate's Court. Police spokesperson Brigadier Vishnu Naidoo said Mandi Jane Cowli would return to court on Friday‚ when she was expected to apply for bail.Cowli‚ 32‚ was arrested on Friday night at OR Tambo International Airport shortly after arriving from Dubai with the cocaine valued at R1.6 million‚ Naidoo said.During a joint operation consisting of members of the South African Police Service’s Trans International Investigation Unit‚ Tactical Response Team‚ Intelligence and K9 Units‚ police found a stash of drugs hidden in tins which were nicely sealed‚ Naidoo said."We have established from her passport entries that she had been a regular visitor abroad‚" he said.Meanwhile on Monday afternoon a 27-year-old man was arrested at Cape Town International Airport for possessing cocaine with an estimated street value of R500 000‚ police said.Said Constable Noloyiso Rwexana: "The suspect arrived from an international flight … Police management is pleased with the arrests of drug mules in the past few days and commend members in their efforts to fight drug trafficking."The man is expected to appear in court on Wednesday...
