Helen Zille may not be leader of the opposition anymore‚ but she is more admired than the man who replaced her.
Steve Hofmeyer is sandwiched between a former president and a late former president’s widow.
That’s according to a BusinessTech.co.za story about the results of global market research firm YouGov’s 2016 “most admired rankings”.
The Daily Show host and comedian Trevor Noah – who was the highest-ranked man‚ but came second overall to public protector advocate Thuli Madonsela – was the only non-political figure in the top 10‚ it noted.
Western Cape Premier Zille came third ahead of Democratic Alliance leader Mmusi Maimane‚ who edged out former President Thabo Mbeki.
Trailing Mbeki was Hofmeyer‚ the self-appointed spokesperson for the disaffected Afrikaners‚ who made the list ahead of late statesman Nelson Mandela’s widow Graça Machel.
Mandela’s ex-wife was next‚ with Cape Town mayor and President Jacob Zuma rounding out the top 10.
BuinessTech reported that the “admiration score is the combination of two metrics – the answers to the questions: ‘who do you truly admire?’‚ where respondents could make multiple selections‚ and ‘who do you MOST admire?’‚ where they could only pick one”.
