R50 guaranteed for three matching numbers in the main draw and the Lotto Plus jackpot “rolling over instead of rolling down” are two changes National Lottery operator Ithuba has announced.

It said it based these on what‚ according to its research‚ “most Lotto players in South Africa want”.

The changes will also see Lotto tickets now retailing for R5‚ and Lotto Plus for R2.50. Currently‚ according to http://nationallottery.co.za/about/how-to-lotto/‚ “a single Lotto play will cost you R3.50…and a single Lotto Plus play will cost you R1.50.

“At the moment‚ if players get to match three numbers‚ they are paid out varying amounts which were dependent on the number of people that have won in the division‚” a statement said.

Lotto Plus will feature a fixed guaranteed prize pay-out of R20 for three matching numbers.

“There will also be changes in the second chance game‚ Lotto Plus‚ which will now see its jackpot rolling over instead of rolling down as it's the case currently. The Lotto Plus jackpot will now keep on rolling until it's been won‚ leading to sizeable jackpots.”

The changes “kick in from Sunday‚ May 22”.
