Willies Mchunu appointed new KZN premier

Former Transport‚ Community Safety and Liaison MEC Thembinkosi Willies Mchunu is the new premier of KwaZulu-Natal‚ following the ANC's axing of Senzo Mchunu. This was announced by provincial spokesman Super Zuma and promptly tweeted by United Democratic Movement leader Bantu Holomisa ‏@BantuHolomisa‚ who shared‚ "Breaking News: #WilliesMchunu appointed new KZN Premier".Senzo Mchunu did not attend the National Day of Prayer at King’s Park on Sunday. Instead‚ Willies Mchunu was seen with President Jacob Zuma.In 2013‚ Senzo Mchunu defeated the party's then incumbent provincial deputy chairman Willies Mchunu for the position of ANC chairman in a close vote at the party's provincial general council.In November last year‚ Senzo Mchunu lost his seat as provincial chairman to Sihle Zikhalala.Since then Zikhalala’s supporters have openly campaigned to remove him as premier‚ according to the Times Media Durban bureau.His axing is seen as giving Zuma’s supporters powerful leverage ahead of the local government elections...
