Tiger Tiger club relaunch sets tongues wagging

The club in Claremont closed for two weeks of “general upgrading” like carpet replacement and lighting improvement‚ which was “standard practice” for any 10-year-old business‚ said Tiger Tiger spokesman Anick Hewitt.Tiger Tiger assault case droppedAttempted murder charges against three men following an incident last year at Tiger Tiger nightclub in Claremont were dropped and the case was withdrawn in Wynberg Magistrate's Court yesterday. The relaunch‚ scheduled for June 2‚ promising a return to the club’s roots‚ drew some harsh criticism on its Facebook event page.Tiger Tiger made headlines in 2014 when three young men from East London allegedly beat a cleaner in front of the club as her teenage son watched. The charges were dropped last year.And in January 2014‚ a former model and University of Cape Town student urinated on a taxi driver from the club balcony. He was found guilty of assault in June 2015.Comments on the Facebook page‚ which span anger‚ mockery and sarcasm in their tone‚ have alluded to the racially charged incidents of 2014 and also criticised the event’s dress code‚ which tells girls to “dress to impress”.CW : Violence.
