BUSTED: Court officials nabbed making money by selling drugs and cellphones in Cape Town

A second Western Cape court orderly was arrested for suspected criminal activities on Wednesday. The constable was held on suspicion of dealing in drugs at Blue Downs Magistrate's Court‚ and will appear in court in Kuils River on Friday."A lawyer noticed a suspicious bag in a court room and reported the matter to security‚" a police statement said."An investigation revealed that the bag containing a small quantity of dagga‚ four packets of tik and three cellular telephones."Earlier on Wednesday‚ the Western Cape Anti-Corruption Investigating Unit arrested a Bellville Magistrate's Court orderly after it saw him allegedly leaving a bag with cellphones and drugs near the cells.The officers had had the 39-year-old sergeant under observation after receiving information about his supposed activities.“He was seen leaving a bag next to the court building and left immediately without reporting for duty‚” police said.“The bag was searched and 50 mandrax tablets‚ three packets of tik‚ dagga‚ two cellphones and three batteries were discovered inside.“We are eager to root out corruption amongst our ranks and will make every endeavour to bring perpetrators to book.”- TMG Digital/Cape Bureau ..
