The lion‚ nicknamed Sylvester‚ will be moved to the Addo National Elephant Park in the Eastern Cape on Friday.Sylvester to learn his alpha role with two femalesThe South African National Parks (SANParks) made the announcement about his imminent move.Sylvester will be moved into a boma within an existing 200ha enclosure in the Kuzuko contractual area of the park‚ where two female cubs already reside.The hope is that Sylvester will bond with the little lionesses and ultimately establish himself as the resident pride male.In future the lions will be released into the greater park once the fence between Zuzuko and the neighbouring Darlington section of the park is removed‚ giving them 60‚000ha to roam‚ SANParks said.Sylvester first escaped the Karoo National Park in June last year and evaded capture for over three weeks.After his capture he was fitted with a tracking collar - which alerted authorities in March that he had once again roamed beyond the borders of the Karoo park.Wearing his collar‚ Sylvester was tracked in just three days.Meanwhile‚ police in Limpopo reported five lions dead in the province this week‚ two of which were protected white female lions.The lions had been poisoned and had their heads and paws removed in what some say are "muti" related killings.No arrests have been made yet...
