Terrified passengers see taxi driver shot dead in front of their eyes

A taxi driver has been shot and killed in front of his passengers in Libode as taxi violence flared up again on Thursday. At least one other person was wounded‚ according to unconfirmed reports.The 35-year-old taxi driver affiliated to the Mthatha Taxi Owners' Association was gunned down shortly after 10am today.He was transporting commuters from Mthatha to Libode when an unknown number of gunmen fired three times.He is the second to be killed after a conductor affiliated to the same taxi association was killed on Tuesday.The taxi violence is over the Libode to Mthatha operating route.Eye-witnesses said that the taxi driver managed to get out of the minibus taxi after the three shots were fired‚ before finally collapsing about 20 metres from the vehicle.They said passengers ran out of the taxi screaming‚ while they ran for cover fearing for their lives.- TMG Digital/Daily Dispatch..
