The executors of the estate of late former president Nelson Mandela say none of his assets have been sold in order to pay bequests and to discharge estate liabilities and costs.

The executors were on Friday making a public announcement of all the cash bequests made in terms of Mandela’s will.

Mandela‚ the late president of the first democratic republic‚ passed away at his Johannesburg home in December 2013 at the age of 95‚ and left an estate valued at about R46-million. He was buried in Qunu in the Eastern Cape.

The executors announced on Friday they had prepared and lodged with the Master of the High Court a first liquidation and distribution account.

They said the account had been approved by the Master. This means executors of the state will distribute the cash bequests among the heirs in accordance with the account and last will of Mandela.

In his will‚ Mandela made cash bequests to his grandchildren from his first wife‚ Evelyn‚ and grandchildren and great-grandchildren from his second wife‚ Winnie Madikizela-Mandela.

He bequeathed $300,000 each to grandsons Mandla Mandela‚ Ndaba Mandela‚ Mbuso Mandela and Andile Mandela.

He bequeathed R100,000 each to Makaziwe Mandela’s four children.

He bequeathed R100,000 each to seven of his grandchildren from his second wife and R100,000 to his great-gandchild from Madikizela-Mandela’s marriage.

He also bequeathed money to his third wife Graca Machel’s children born from her marriage with former president Samora Machel.

Josina Machel and Malengane Machel were bequeathed R3-million each while six children born from the previous marriage of Samora Machel were each given R100,000.

Mandela also made payments of R50,000 each to nine staff who worked for him.

They are Thoka Mavuso‚ Michael Maponya‚ Zelda la Grange‚ Sara Mawela‚ Albertina Dima‚ Albert Ndlovu‚ Gloria Nocanda‚ Xoliswa Ndoyiya and Nocingile Rexe.

He also bequeathed R100,000 each to a number of institutions which he attended or were close to his heart.

He directed that these funds be used for scholarships and bursaries.

These are the Clarkebury High School in the Transkei‚ Healdtown Comprehensive High School‚ Fort Hare University and Wits University‚ Qunu Secondary School and the Orlando West High School.

Mandela also bequeathed R1.5-million to the Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela Family Trust and left royalties to the trust of which a percentage of between 10% and 30% should be given to the African National Congress.
