Association of Mineworkers and Construction Union (AMCU) president Joseph Mathunjwa has warned there is a fake Twitter account in his name‚ which is tweeting "disrespectful" opinions."It has come to my attention that a personal Twitter account has been opened falsely using my name as @josephmathunjwa. I personally do not have any personal social media accounts through Twitter nor Facebook and thus the current personal Twitter page is a false reflection and not of my internal views‚" he said in a statement."I have also noted that some of the opinions and/or retweets directly address certain political statures in a disrespectful manner and those who know me well will attest that I do not address anyone in such a manner."He added the union has tried to alert Twitter "of this defamation account and hope that they will come to our aid in closing it down accordingly".AMCU‚ meanwhile‚ embarked on a strike on Friday at Sibanye mine‚ demanding the company provide transport for employees.Sibanye said in a statement that task team had been established with the union in order to perform a feasibility study and make final recommendations on the transport demand. "Prior to the completion of the feasibility study by the task team‚ and following disagreement over the process which would be followed‚ AMCU issued Kroondal management with a strike notice."Jean Nel‚ CEO for Sibanye’s Platinum Division‚ commenting on the strike said: “It is disappointing that AMCU have embarked on unnecessary and potentially damaging strike action over an issue which Sibanye is committed to resolving‚ especially given the difficult economic conditions in the North West area. This conduct does not serve the interest of any stakeholder. We are committed to engaging with AMCU to resolve the impasse as soon as possible.”..
