Man bitten by a shark‚ another found dead on South Africa's beaches

A man was found dead and another badly bitten by a shark at the coasts of KwaZulu-Natal and Cape Town. The National Sea Rescue Institute said a 43-year-old man from Bettys Bay was bitten by a shark when he and his friends were spearfishing near Arniston on Thursday."Paramedics treated the man for multiple lacerations and an avulsion injury to his left leg and left thigh and lacerations to his right hand."It is believed that he was bitten on the left leg and left thigh and suffered the hand injury while fending off the shark with his right hand."The man was stabilised at a Bredasdorp hospital before being airlifted to a hospital in Cape Town. He is said to be stable.The NSRI were also alerted to a fatality on Wednesday afternoon at Palm Beach‚ north of Port Edward. "On arrival on the scene 1 nautical mile off-shore of Palm Beach‚ an unidentified body was located and recovered from the water by Police Search and Rescue divers and brought to our sea rescue station at Port Edward‚" the institute said in a statement.The NSRI said the body has been handed into the care of the Forensic Pathology Services and an inquest docket has been opened by police...
