OR Tambo Airport cops nab suspected drug smuggler

A woman travelling on a Zambian-issued passport is to spend the weekend behind bars after being arrested with cocaine worth almost R500 000 at OR Tambo International Airport. A statement said that members of the South African Police Service’s Transnational Investigation Team arrested the 44-year-old after 1.595kg of the drug was found hidden in the false compartment of her luggage on Thursday.“The suspect‚ whose passport movements show that she left Zambia early this month for India‚ was coming from Mumbai via Addis Ababa when she was arrested by the team at the OR Tambo International Airport yesterday afternoon‚” it added.“The estimated value of her drugs was found to be R478 500.”She is expected to appear in the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court on Monday on smuggling charges...
