Limpopo cops laud hefty sentence for rapist

Police in Limpopo have welcomed the hefty jail sentence for a convicted rapist. Jonas Kgobo Moshabi‚ was handed down a sentence of 22 life terms in prison by the Polokwane High Court on Friday‚ after it was found that he had raped 32 women‚ most of whom were elderly.“He used to overpower his victims while they were working in crop fields or while they were out collecting wood. He also broke into the houses of 10 of his victims.“In most cases he had an unlicensed firearm in his possession that he used to threaten the women with as well as robbing them of their possessions. In one case a woman was shot and killed in her home‚” police said.The suspect was arrested at Moletji during 2013 and was kept in custody since then.The Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Limpopo Lieutenant General Nneke Ledwaba welcomed the hefty sentence“Lieutenant General Ledwaba congratulated the investigation team of the Family Violence and Child Protection and Sexual Offenses (FCS) Unit for their sterling investigative work that resulted in securing this harsh conviction‚” police said...
