Man seriously injured in tanker explosion

A 44-year-old man is in a serious condition after he was involved in an explosion while cleaning a tanker in Chloorkop‚ north-east of Johannesburg‚ on Tuesday afternoon.ER24 said paramedics had arrived on the scene shortly after 1.30pm where they found the man being attended to by a local first aid team.“They indicated to paramedics that the injured man climbed into the tanker to clean it. Moments later they heard an explosion.“He was removed from the tanker by the first aid team and paramedics were called to the scene.“Upon assessment paramedics found that he sustained severe head injuries and extensive burns across his body. An emergency helicopter was called to the scene to airlift him to hospital for further care‚” ER24 said.“The exact cause of the incident is not yet known. It is not clear what type of chemical was contained in the tanker at the time‚” the emergency medical service added...
