Polokwane doc accused of forgery and fraud expected in court

A Limpopo doctor is expected to appear in the Polokwane Magistrates Court on Wednesday for allegedly purchasing prescription drugs‚ including morphine‚ fraudulently.The 44-year-old‚ who has been charged with fraud and forgery‚ was arrested by the Hawks at the Rethabile Clinic in Polokwane where he works on Tuesday morning.Defiant treasurer suspended at SAASpokesman for the provincial Hawks Captain Matimba Maluleke said they arrested the doctor after receiving a tipoff that he had been allegedly obtaining medicines illegally for the past two years.Maluleke said it was alleged that he also used a stamp belonging to another doctor‚ a forged signature as well as a letterhead belonging to the Department of Health in the commission of the crime.He said 35 bottles containing antiretroviral tablets‚ stamps and other items believed to have been stolen from the department were discovered inside the doctor's house in Polokwane during a search operation. – TMG Digital/Sowetan..
