Four robbery suspects killed after shootout with Eastern Cape cops

Eastern Cape police shot and killed and four alleged robbery suspects on Wednesday night. They were shot dead outside Lusikisiki while they were travelling to Margate.The suspects are alleged to have robbed a Boxer Store in Lusikisiki of R59 000 on Monday morning before fleeing the scene.Hawks spokesman Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi said police received information about the whereabouts of the suspects and their next move on Wednesday."An operation was set up by the National Intervention Unit with Lusikisiki SAPS in attendance. The NIU intercepted the suspects' vehicle on the road and when they tried to pull it over‚ the suspects opened fire on the members."They returned fire and fatally wounded all four suspects‚" Mulaudzi said.He said on the scene they recovered three 9mm pistols and R6,000 in cash. – TMG Digital/Daily Dispatch..
