Trio convicted of murdering Mthatha couple

Mkhululi Luwaca‚ 22‚ Bongani Dephana‚ 22‚ and Andiphile Mhlophe‚ 21‚ were found guilty of murdering‚ kidnapping and robbing lovers Carl George‚ 20‚ and Jacqueline Miller‚ 20‚ in May last year.The three had pleaded not guilty on all counts. But Nhlangulele said the State had proved beyond reasonable doubt that the three KwaLink village residents were guilty of the crimes.Man throws son from sixth floor balcony, jumps from building in police standoffGeorge and Miller were bludgeoned to death and dumped at the Mthatha Dam. Their belongings‚ which included an Ipad and car radio‚ were found in the three men's possession.During the trial‚ they claimed they were not responsible for their murder but admitted to taking their belongings from the couple's Toyota Tazz‚ which they claimed they found abandoned.Speaking after the conviction‚ parents Charles George and Rhona Miller said they had confidence in senior state advocate Mbulelo Nyendwana and believed that he would convince Nhlangulele to deliver a sentence appropriate to the seriousness of the crime.The case was postponed to September 1 for pre-sentencing reports.- TMG Digital/DispatchLive..
