Sasol has ‘contingency plans’ for Thursday’s petrol workers’ strike
The Chemical‚ Energy‚ Paper‚ Printing‚ Wood and Allied Workers Union (Ceppwawu) will on Thursday embark on a nationwide protected strike.The strike stems from a deadlock in wage negotiations.According to an Eyewitness New report‚ Ceppawu claims bosses are only willing to offer a 6.5% pay increase while workers are demanding 9%.More than 15 000 employees are expected to join the strike.Sasol says it has put contingency plans in place to ensure there is minimum disruption to its customers when the strike starts.“Sasol has received a notification from Ceppwawu of a protected strike to commence on Thursday‚ 28 July 2016‚” Sasol’s spokesperson Alex Anderson told TMG Digital on Wednesday.“Sasol has put contingency plans in place to ensure the minimum disruption to our customers‚ as well as to ensure the safety of our employees and contractors during this time‚ and will continue to proactively monitor the situation. “Sasol remains committed to the safety of its employees and the community‚” he added. – TMG Digital..
