82 Ekurhuleni pupils treated for possible food poisoning

Eighty-two pupils from Tholulwazi Secondary School in Ekurhuleni were treated at Pholosong Hospital on Friday morning for suspected food poisoning. Teachers said the pupils ate samp with brown beans‚ cabbage and butternut that was provided by the school’s feeding scheme on Thursday.The Gauteng Department of Health said the pupils‚ who are in different grades‚ were brought at the hospital after complaining of stomach aches and diarrhoea.The hospital is still treating some schoolchildren while others have been discharged.The hospital’s infection control team visited the school on Friday and collected food samples‚ which were sent for testing at the National Health Laboratory Services‚ the department said...
