Oudtshoorn child killed by family dog

A four-year-old boy was killed after being attacked by a dog belonging to his family‚ police have said.Peter Frans died in Oudtshoorn Hospital after he sustained fatal wounds to his face and neck following an attack at home by the dog at Leeubekkkie Road‚ Bridgton‚ Oudtshoorn‚ on Saturday.Police spokesman Captain Malcolm Pojie said the boy was allegedly playing with the dog when it bit his face and neck.“He was rushed to the local hospital for medical treatment but unfortunately succumbed to the injuries sustained. The dog is the family pet‚” he said.According to the town’s local newspaper‚ the Outdshoorn Courant‚ Frans’ grandmother said he was “a loving child.”“It is still a big shock for us. He was truly a dear child‚” she said.The publication added that the dog had been put down.An inquest docket was opened for further investigation by the Oudtshoorn Police‚ Pojie said. – TMG Digital..
