Double murderer shows no emotion as he is sentenced to life

A Soweto man showed no emotion when he was sentenced to life for killing two men within six months. Alfred Ndumiso Zondi‚ 34‚ stood and watched as relatives of slain Soweto businessman Jacob Fana Sigasa‚ 58‚ wept in the Circuit Court of the High Court sitting in the Kagiso Magistrate's Court‚ West Rand.Judge Majake Mabesele sentenced Zondi to life imprisonment for killing Sigasa‚ plus another six years for killing Simon Vilakazi‚ six years for possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition and also sentenced him to a fine of R1‚000 or 12 months’ imprisonment for malicious damage to property.Zondi was on the run from police for almost six years after he shot Sigasa dead on May 10 2009 in Mzimhlophe‚ Soweto.He was out on R10‚000 bail.He fired three shots that hit Sigasa in his neck and body and when he fell to the ground face down‚ Zondi fired three more gunshots at Sigasa who lay helpless on the ground. Sigasa died on the scene.While out on bail‚ Zondi went to the home of his ex-lover Nosiphiwe Somagaca in Braamfischerville‚ Soweto‚ on October 11 2009. There he found Somagaca with Vilakazi‚ her new boyfriend.He broke down the door and windows of her shack and fatally stabbed Vilakazi in the chest. Vilakazi died at the scene. Zondi was arrested on August 16‚ 2015 at Dube Hostel in Soweto where he was hiding. TMG Digital/Sowetan..
