Teenager rescued after being swept out to sea on boogie board

A 15-year-old boy was rescued on Thursday afternoon after being swept out to sea on a boogie board at Camps Bay on the Cape Peninsula. The National Sea Rescue Institute crew at Bakoven was alerted by the boy’s father after his son got into difficulty in stronger than normal rip currents.A sea rescue craft was launched and the teenager was discovered about 200 metres offshore. He was taken onto the rescue craft and brought ashore‚ according to Bernard Schafter‚ NSRI Bakoven duty controller.“He was brought to the OPBC (Oceana Power Boat Club) aboard the sea rescue craft and EMS paramedics medically checked on the teenager and he was not injured and he was reunited with family and he did not need to go to hospital and no furher assistance was required‚” Schafer said...
