Six injured in blaze in block of flats in Hillbrow

Six people‚ among them four children‚ were injured on Saturday afternoon when a fire broke out in a block of flats on Claim Street in Hillbrow‚ Johannesburg. ER24 spokesman Russel Meiring said that when paramedics and fire services arrived on the scene two floors of the building were already well alight. Several of the building’s tenants were gathered outside on the pavement.“Fire services immediately began to battle the blaze while paramedics assessed the patients on the scene.Tragic Kinross mine fire taught us lessons‚ says Chamber of MinesExactly 30 years ago 177 people were killed and 235 were injured in a fire at Kinross gold mine. “On assessment‚ paramedics found that two adults and four children had suffered minor to mild smoke inhalation.
