All the Walter Sisulu University campuses in Buffalo City remained closed on Tuesday morning.

Students boycotted classes on Monday over the 8% fee increase that was announced by the university’s vice-chancellor on Friday.

Speaking on behalf of the students on Monday‚ Zolile Zamisa said they will only return to classes on the day the vice-chancellor pronounces that there will be no fee hike.

On Monday night‚ one student was arrested and is expected to appear before the East London Magistrate’s Court soon.

Police used rubber bullets and teargas to disperse hundreds of students who blockaded roads with burning tyres in Southernwood.
