Our country has been sold: Amcu's Mathunjwa

Association of Mineworkers and Construction Union (Amcu) president Joseph Mathunjwa says South Africa has already been sold. Speaking outside the Sasol offices in Rosebank‚ Johannesburg‚ Mathunjwa lamented what he called the oppression and exploitation of workers.Compensation for Marikana victims to be settled in next few monthsThe Presidency has announced that the government is currently in the process of determining the quantum and will in due course make an offer for payments in full settlement of claims resulting from the Marikana national tragedy of August 16‚ 2012. "The country has been sold to the highest bidder. There is nothing that we own here. Only a fool thinks he is free in this country‚" he said.Amcu members are on strike at Sasol demanding a minimum wage of R12‚500.This is the same demand that led to the Marikana massacre in 2012 which began as a wildcat strike‚ dissension between rival union supporters and the deaths of 44 people‚ 41 of whom were striking mineworkers killed by police...
