Babalwa Breakfast‚ the Panayiotou murder trial state witness who was arrested on Thursday‚ has been released on R1‚000 bail. Breakfast was arrested shortly after she was declared a hostile witness by Judge Dayalin Chetty‚ affording state prosecutor Marius Stander an opportunity to cross-examine her.She faces charges of perjury and defeating the ends of justice for allegedly backtracking on two affidavits in which she revealed everything she knew about Jayde Panayiotou’s murder. This includes details of her boyfriend Luthando Siyoni’s involvement.Siyoni has confessed to being the middleman and has implicated Jayde’s husband‚ Christopher Panayiotou‚ in her murder. While Breakfast admitted in the Port Elizabeth High Court during testimony this week to signing the two affidavits‚ she denied the contents of the sworn statements. She is due back in the Port Elizabeth Magistrate’s Court on November 25.- TMG Digital/The Herald..
