Three men accused of creating‚ possessing and distributing child pornography appeared in the Durban Magistrate’s Court on Thursday.
The men are between 29 and 47 years old.
The 47-year-old from the Bluff was found with an image of what appeared to be a six-year-old neighbour.
Magistrate Pearl Andrews adjourned the hearing until next week for a possible bail application.
The 35-year-old from Hillcrest‚ who had a legal aid attorney‚ said that he wanted to appoint a private attorney.
The 29-year-old Pinetown man implicated the other two accused after US Homeland Security picked up his IP address on various internet sites. A search and seizure warrant was obtained and he was found to be in possession of child pornography.
The three were arrested on Tuesday in a joint operation with the South African Police Services‚ KwaZulu-Natal Family Violence‚ Child Protection and Sexual Offences Units and the US Homeland Security.
