Man’s leg partially amputated in truck crash near Bloemfontein

A man’s leg was partially amputated when two trucks collided on the N1 South‚ past the Glen offramp in the direction of Bloemfontein‚ in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

“It is understood that one truck crashed into a stationary truck's trailer‚” said ER24’s Chitra Bodasing Harduth said.

A man‚ believed to be in his 20s‚ was trapped in one of the trucks and the jaws of life were used to extricate him.

“Upon assessment of the man‚ it was found that he sustained injuries to the head and a partial amputation to his left leg‚” Harduth said.

“The man was provided with advanced life support treatment and transported to hospital for further medical care.”
