A woman was struck by lightning in Carletonville‚ west of Johannesburg‚ on Friday.

ER24 paramedics and other emergency services found the woman‚ believed to be in her 30s‚ seated in a passage at a business.

“Upon assessment it was found that she sustained moderate injuries. She was treated and transported to hospital for further medical care‚” said ER24 spokesman Chitra Bodasing Harduth.

Cameron Scott‚ 27‚ from Edenvale on the East Rand in Gauteng survived a lightning strike – while he was indoors – last month.

“It felt like I was being electrocuted‚” he told the Benoni City Times. “Doctors say I am lucky to be alive‚ although each case is different.”

He spent four days in hospital and temporarily lost his speech.
