The latest wildfire to ravage Cape Town closed the N2 in Khayelitsha on Thursday.

The highway was closed between Mew Way and Spine Road.

“The fire’s not under control but it’s is within a confined area,” said City of Cape Town fire and rescue spokesman Theo Layne.

There was no immediate danger to property and the biggest concern was the smoke, which was reducing visibility.

Motorists were advised to use alternatives routes such as Old Faure Road. – TMG Digital/The Times
