Heavy rainfall and flooding has been reported across much of South Africa this week.

A large tropical trough is letting moisture-laden air flow across SA’s interior from the north. Roads have become obstructed as they disappear under fast-flowing water.

Cars have fallen prey to the floods.

Flood warnings remain in place as widespread showers are expected across much of the country.

  • Flood warnings issued for parts of GautengThe South African Weather Service issued a warning on Tuesday for heavy rain leading to flooding in Gauteng and other parts of the country. 

Gauteng Weather has issued the following reminder;

  • 20cm of water can sweep a car off the road;
  • half a metre can float a car;
  • and you should never drive around barricades.
