A Westville Boys High School pupil who was electrocuted at the school on Monday is in a stable condition.
In a statement‚ WBHS headmaster Trevor Hall confirmed that the grade 10 pupil is in a stable condition after sustaining serious electrical burns to his hands and chest.
"The injuries occurred during a break time while he was handling a Visual Art project. ER24 was called and he was immediately taken to hospital. He is currently communicating freely with his teachers and parents‚ and the school will continue to monitor his progress."
ER24 spokesman Russel Meiring said paramedics treated the boy and administered several advanced life support interventions before transporting him to hospital.
“It is believed that the students had been using a transformer-like device when the boy was electrocuted‚” he said in a statement.
